In “Sun, Moon, Rising,” Jazmine Green (CMD+JAZMINE), Lucy Little, and Ariana Martinez engage in an exercise of trust, play, and narrative collaboration. Through spoken word, digital projections, and live musical performance “Sun, Moon, Rising” melds the structure of a three-act story and the improvisational jazz practice of “playing changes” to create a sonic landscape that evolves in real time.
Jazmine Green is an audio documentarian by trade and artist by practice. She is the founder of Molten Heart, a duPont-Columbia award-winning creative and commercial studio focused on the texture of sound. Molten Heart’s collaborators include The Met, Stitcher Studios, and Audible. Her practice explores the spiritual qualities of improvisation, the convergence of technology and the human body, and the intersection of gender and race through visual, performance, and sound art. She writes and produces electronic music as CMD+JAZMINE. Her projects and performances have been exhibited at The University of Chicago and ICU VCA, received recognition such as the 2021 Third Coast Award for Best Documentary Short, and featured at festivals such as On Air and RESONATE.
Lucy Little (she/her) is a multidisciplinary musician, improvisor, composer, and audio producer based in NYC, working at the intersection of sound, visuals, and storytelling. Her practice is inspired by a lifelong exploration of community and queerness, present and ancestral. A classically trained violinist and vocalist, she performs with the Emmy Award–winning theater company Manual Cinema, and with musicians and bands around the world including Half Gringa, Aisha Burns, Dani Larkin, and Afarin Nazarijou. She has a solo, electroacoustic performance project, and is a composer across mediums, including most recently the Tribeca-award-winning podcast Reaching Out (Futuro Media/KCRW), which Ira Glass called the "best new show I've heard in years." Lucy is currently a senior podcast producer at TED, where she showruns and produces TED Talks Daily and is the lead sound designer and co-producer on the new show Corner Piece. Lucy is a U.S. Fulbright alum.
Ariana Martinez (they/them) is an artist making images, objects and time-based works that investigate processes of sensory perception and spatial navigation. Drawing from queer and disabled lineages, Ariana works to create multi-sensory experiences of entanglement and reciprocity with their external environment. Currently, they are the art director and among the founding editors of Sound Fields, a new publication dedicated to audio documentary theory and practice. Ariana’s multimedia artwork has appeared at the Barbican Cultural Centre (London, UK), the Open City Documentary Festival (London, UK), the Third Coast International Audio Festival (Chicago, IL), the HearSay Audio Arts Festival (Kilfinane, Ireland), LUCIA Festival (Florence, Italy), BANGUOJA audio festival (Lithuania), and elsewhere.
