A two day pop-up radio studio broadcasting live from XMTR Festival.

Locale Radio is a pop-up live broadcast platform, transmitting from the fabulous Dayglo Studios record shop in St Leonards-on-Sea. It’s a free-form site for creation, discussion, interview and reflection, for artistic encounters and broadcast interventions with guests gathered from all walks of life. As its name implies, it’s focused on place, on the dense built environment that sits on the coast, a crossroads, perhaps an aleph.

Locale Radio broadcasts on regional DAB station Resonance Extra as well as streaming live via Resonance Extra and it is there too that you’ll find its ad hoc schedule.

Featuring extraordinary improvising house band The Brothers Bula, guest musicians including St Leonards-on-Sea titan of the bass Matt Armstrong, the legendary pop-art-rock conceptualist Professor Anthony Moore, supercool chanteuse Kitty McCarron and other members of Statue of Liberty, East Sussex's foremost avant-garde big band. Plus reviews of (and interviews around) all the interesting local art exhibitions, including the epochal Edge: Where the Land Meets the Sea (opening this XMTR weekend at Hastings Contemporary) and live guests from the world of international transmission-art including Blake Pfeil (All American Ruins), Tom Roe (Turn On The News), Mobile Radio (Radio Art Zone), Mark Aitken (No Return), Ben Thompson (The London Ear) and global treats for the ears of all conceivable kinds. Anyone reading this is invited to pop in themselves to DayGlo and join in the free-form live broadcasts!
