Micro-moments from around the world - a global exchange of tiny audio stories. Each SONIC is a brief portrait of a person, place, or moment. Taken together, they create a collective audio snapshot of life around the world.

The RELAY connects audio and radio festivals across multiple continents: Transom 25 Years - Cape Cod US, Resonate PodFest - Richmond US, Oorzaken - Amsterdam, LUCIA Festival - Florence, SONOHR Festival - Bern, Resonate Festival - Cape Town

At each festival, participants are invited to record and contribute their own Sonics. As the collection grows, it will travel from festival to festival, creating a shared listening experience across borders.

We’ll be receiving the SONICS from TRANSOM 25 YEARS in Cape Cod - which will be played at the XMTR LISTENING LOUNGES and LOCALE RADIO live broadcast on Resonance Extra.

These 30-60 second micro-documentaries capture small moments of everyday life: a conversation overheard at a bus stop, a classified ad, a local character, a family ritual, a fragment of history, a joke, a memory, a sound that reveals something about a place.

Audio Producer Suzi McCarthy, will be helping XMTR Festival participants to record and collect our SONICS from St Leonards-on-Sea.These will be featured at our closing ceremony CODA, as part of an improvised sound piece. There will be prizes for the most engaging audio!
