PULSE Check: Agency, Power, Resistance and Collective Imagination - Fatuma Khaireh + Lina Prestwood

  • Horse & Groom 4 Mercatoria Saint Leonards-on-sea, England, TN38 0EB United Kingdom (map)

This session synthesises conversations that happened at XMTR PULSE on Friday and brings some of the key discussion points into the festival programme for all delegates to consider and building on the work of audio producer and founder of Scenery Studios, Lina Prestwood, who has facilitated this space in previous years, this event is an invitation to reflect on what's happening now and to imagine together what power and resistance can look like, and how we might build collective capacity to reclaim power and agency in shaping the future of the audio industry and, inspired by Lois Weaver's Long Table format, an alternative approach to public discussion that democratises knowledge and expertise and honours the expertise already in the room, members of the public are invited to take a seat at the table, with the dinner table serving as a symbol of equality and community, where hierarchy gives way to shared conversation.

Fatuma Khaireh is a London-based audio producer, cultural worker, and facilitator interested in the intersections of arts, culture, well-being, and social justice, and the potential these hold for social transformation.
