There are many resources available to help you improve your audio, but as makers we rarely get the support we need to make things worse. Led by Nina Garthwaite (In The Dark), this session will introduce you to the basics of bad audio making.
Working both in groups and with your individual creative voice, Nina will guide you through the process of conceiving of your own original bad radio idea. Everyone will leave with a personalised set of constraints to get you started on your bad audio-making journey.
For those who feel they need extra support, Nina is offering free one-to-one feedback over the course of the festival, so you can make something really bad to take home.
Nina Garthwaite is a multimedia artist and the Director of In The Dark, a gathered listening space dedicated to creativity and experimentation in sound. She has taught creative and experimental audio for 8 years, initially to BA and MA students and more recently through the In The Dark school. As well as working in sound Nina makes animations, sculptures, prints and puppets.
