Dance to the sounds of St Leonards on Sea - facilitated by Eloïse Berti.
As part of an artist residency, Miri Berlin has been recording sounds to create Sonic Portraits of St. Leonards-On-Sea This project explores the sonic landscape of St. Leonards-on-Sea through field recordings, narrative, and attentive listening. It investigates how this place can be heard, remembered, and reimagined, approaching St. Leonards-on-Sea through its rhythms, voices, silences, movements, and atmospheres.
The materials collected over three weeks in September 2026 will become the foundation for an album dedicated to this specific place. Environmental sounds, with their own context and language, will be shaped through my musical practice and gradually become a series of varied compositions.

During the XMTR FESTIVAL 2026 visitors can take part in a listening event by the sea. Equipped with headphones, they will hear short sonic and narrative fragments that invite them to experience the surrounding environment in a different way. The event offers a first glimpse into the process that will later unfold in the album.
Planned for release in spring 2027, the album will offer a sonic portrait of St. Leonards-on-Sea.
