Pubblicità is a live tape performance and expanded listening environment by Keplero (Nicola Mecca), built from fragments of 1990s Italian television advertising, domestic VHS recordings, cassette transfers, degraded speech, jingles and unstable loops.

Across multiple speakers, familiar voices and slogans are copied, re-recorded, detuned, saturated and gradually eroded. Tape and live electronic processing transform the polished language of advertising into a fragile, haunted archive. Alongside the main performance, a small headphone listening station offers a more intimate layer of private memory, using audio extracted from family home videos to contrast mass-broadcast nostalgia with the imperfect recollections preserved on domestic media.

Pubblicità asks what remains when collective media memory decays. The surviving voices, promises and jingles are placed in dialectical tension with the private archive, creating an unstable space in which public history becomes personal recollection.

Keplero is the experimental sound project of Italian composer, sound artist and multi-instrumentalist Nicola Mecca, based in Palermo. Working across tape, field recording, live electronics, found media, and improvisation, his practice explores memory, decay, obsolescence, unstable transmission and the tension between private archives and collective histories. His work has been presented in concert, broadcast and audiovisual contexts, including CAMP Radio’s Quantum Waves, curated by France Jobin. He is currently developing projects around degraded media, fascist and post-fascist sound, domestic recordings and expanded approaches to live film scoring.
