AUTONOMOUS ORCHESTRATIONS - DELPHIS STUDIOS (WILL GORE)

Wind Bot: 15 mph wind, northerly, lasting 8 seconds.
Paper Cup Bot: Rolled 3 feet southeast. Now resting against a fire hydrant.

Delphis Studios share a series of entirely contained ai ecosystems - as we look inside - we find each system filled with custom chat bots caught in cyclical causal relationships: itch bot and scratch bot - sunset bot and nostalgic sigh bot - orchestrated by Delphis own team of engineers these performances weave between waiting rooms of the absurd - paradoxical cute mini universes of robotic poetry and/or purgatory.

Delphis say:
AI is an unsavoury and threatening prospect not because of the technology itself but because of the political systems from which it emerges.  This work asks - can we deflect the invasive market forces that shape the current trajectory of these ventures - de-rail and re-assign these machines away from productivity, black box bias -  towards working on our bigger more fundamental questions…. or failing that, if the machines do become too powerful and malign is it possible to segue them eternally,  into loops of the infinitely banal.

With a background in songwriting, composition and performance honed through development deals at Abbey Road and Miloco Studios, In the last few years Will Gore has expanded his practice towards story telling and sonic world building. While on a dual 3-part residency with both Bristol’s Noods Radio and London’s Voices he has had the opportunity to experiment and develop a unique style and format that uses sound collage and detailed stylised sound design to immerse an audience within the setting of a fictional creative agency. Part workplace satire part absurdist meditation the angle into the world encourages us to consider creative decision making situated within the contemporary context of rapidly expanding technologies - and offers us a playful exploration of the future of work - generational relationships within the hierarchical context of the workplace, and the tension between authentic art and the commercial.
