Isobel Anderson + Miroslava Vecerova Talk / Q&A: Every Second Breath

  • Amici Studio 12 Claremont Hastings, England, TN34 1HA United Kingdom (map)

A major new exhibition by Czech artist Miroslava Večeřová, opening the previous week alongside her Sussex Spotlight presentation at Hastings Contemporary. Combining sculpture, drawing and an immersive sound installation created in collaboration with sound artist Isobel Anderson, and diffused across a custom-built sound system designed by Tony D. Birch.

Isabel will be talking about her recording and composition process on this project with insights into working with sound collaboratively with artists using different mediums.

Isobel Anderson is a sound artist, composer and experimental performer working across voice, listening and the poetics of place. Holding a PhD in Sonic Arts, her practice spans music, sound installation, performance and research, often blurring the boundaries between documentary, composition and sonic ritual. Her work has been presented at V&A Storehouse, Fotographia Europa and County Hall Pottery and amassing nearly 30 million streams.

Born in Prague, Czech Republic and based on the southern coast of the UK, Miroslava Vecerova works across sculpture, drawing, performance, installation and film, moving fluidly between abstraction and figuration. Her practice is rooted in an intuitive, process-led and research-informed approach, engaging with themes of environmental imagination, deep time, temporal fluidity, embodied ecology and shifting knowledge across cultures. By immersing herself in the living world, she collapses the boundary between the observer and the environment, treating her art as a continuous, two-way dialogue with nature.
