What radio is archived in you? Not the work you made but the work you love, the work that changed how you thought about sound, the work you wish more people would stumble across?
Drop in to A Library Out of Air to help build a messy, collective, ever-expanding garden of sonic knowledge - from the lost documentaries that caught your ears, to the collectives, stations, series and podcasts that transformed what you imagined was possible - how can we make radio and podcasting’s vast imaginative past more accessible to current and future generations?
In our miniature library, you'll find free zines to help you engage in the project, your own library card to participate and two friendly librarians.
A Library out of Air is instigated by Kalli Anderson (Sound Fields) and Eleanor McDowall (Falling Tree), who have both been exploring ideas around sonic memories in their recent work – Kalli as editor of the Sound Fields archives issue and proceeding series of related talks and events and El through Midsummer Dreaming, the Falling Tree archival takeover of Radio 3 from sunset to sunrise on the solstice, her Radio 4 documentary Into the Ether and the slow creation of a postcard archive of radio memories through her zine project, Weird Noise.
