John Logie Baird - The Musical: an extract and preview from original musical theatre re-imagining the story of the Hastings inventor with new songs written and performed by Jude Montague, Matt Armstrong and Duncan Reekie.
Jude Cowan Montague is based in Hastings at Montague Armstrong workshop, 15 Kings Rd, St Leonards-on-Sea. Her show 'The News Agents' goes out on Resonance FM Saturdays 3pm-4pm. She is a writer, artist and composer from Hastings-based bands, Stray Bentos, Montague Armstrong Rippengal (Baltic electro-folk) and Pito Pato. She plays multiple instruments including Hammond Organ. Hohner Pianet and guitar and is a media historian and poet. Geraldine Swayne took Jude's interest in John Logie Baird as her inspiration for a series of films that were exhibited at the Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.

In Slob, Slub, Sleech, St Leonards resident and mud fan Lucy Dearlove aims to reconnect these words to the earth of the county as it stands today. Can the intricate nuances of centuries-old vocabulary help us make sense of our changing landscape?

Phil Smith is a radio producer and a musician based in Brighton. His documentaries, mixes and sound pieces have been featured on the BBC and NTS and on public radio in the USA, Australia, Canada and Germany. In 2025, his feature 'Staggering in the Dark' (BBC Radio 3) at the Sandford St Martin Awards. 'Tagebuch' - a debut album - was released via Kit Records in 2024. This is his second appearance at XMTR Audio Arts Festival, following live performances at HearSay International Audio Festival (Ireland) and In The Dark, London.
